As its name suggests, the Native Prairie Wildflower is often planted as a prairie restoration species. Purple Coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea) are easy-to-grow perennials that produce beautiful, purple daisy-like flowers. These flowers, when blossomed, attract butterflies, bees, and many songbirds such as the hummingbird and the goldfinch, so much so that some wildlife photographers grow purple coneflowers for the sole purpose of attracting songbirds. In addition, the Purple Coneflower is a medicinal herb known for its large fibrous roots that exhibit healing properties. The roots are widely used as an immune-system stimulant.
