Product description

Painted Mountain corn is truly an American gem. It was bred from a rich gene pool of about 80 native corns. Developed under harsh conditions in the mid-west, it is designed to endure the cold and the drought. It is recommended to plant early in the spring, so it may minimize the contamination from GMO corns. It is multi-use corn, which can be grown for ornament, fresh-eating, or cornmeal. Your little ones will be excited when harvesting these multi-colorful corns. Every ear has a different combination and outline of colors. Opening a corn ear would be as thrilled as opening a Christmas gift. Surely it will be a favorite childhood memory to harvest this indigenous corn.

Note from the Hundredfold grower: "Grows where no other corn grows” was in Painted Mountain’s job description. However, this corn is considered: “grows where no other plant grows”. They were once planted in front of an industrial warehouse in midtown Toronto, where de-icing salt was applied each winter. They magically survived.
