Mammoth Grey Stripe Sunflower Helianthus annuus (120 days) is also known as the Giant Sunflower. The single stem can reach 12 feet tall and produce a large seed head. With bright and bold flowers, these giants attract many friendly creatures such as bumblebees and songbirds. It can also be a major site of attraction if grown on your front lawn.
If you want less attention, don’t grow them in the front yard. Instead, grow them in the backyard. Sunflowers are easy to grow. Start indoors for 3–4 weeks before the last frost or direct seed after frost, thin to at least 1' apart. Richer soil produces taller plants.
