Product description

In the Western and Midwest of North America, showy milkweed is one of the most important food plants for monarch caterpillars. After those caterpillars transform into butterflies by feasting on the leaves, they return to the same kind of plant for nectar. Note that they are food for insects only, not for humans. The sap of showy milkweed is toxic to humans and farm animals. Native milkweed seeds are notoriously difficult to germinate outside of their natural habitats. It is fortunate if the germination rate is over 40%. Please contact us for a replacement or refund if there is a germination problem.
