With the soaring food price, many people start to grow their own food. We started our vegetable patch a long time ago. As our interests in native plants grow, we have added native shrubs and flowers to our garden. However, we have never entertained the idea of a native vegetable, until we found the common evening primroses along a creek. Its roots, young shoots, and flowers are all edible. The sweetness of its flowers would quickly convince you of its innocence.

You may doubt anyone would eat such nice flowers. Yet, with the changing climate and the unchanged inflation, it is more secure to cling to native plants, which require less input to produce.
