Tips for Catnip Establishment
Catnip (Nepeta cataria) belongs to the mint family, characterized by opposite leaves and a strong aroma. Mints in general are not difficult to start from seeds. Catnip plants can be grown with a simple germination method as below:
Starting Catnip Seeds Indoors:
- Sow seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost in your area.
- Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep and cover seeds lightly with soil.
- Keep the soil moist with an ideal temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21°C).
- Seeds will germinate in 14-21 days.
