  • The abundant nectar of the flowers attracts many kinds of insects, including cuckoo bees (Nomada spp.), Halictid bees, plasterer bees (Colletes spp.), masked bees (Hylaeus spp.), Sphecid wasps, Syrphid flies, bee flies (Bombyliidae), Tachinid flies, Calliphorid flies, butterflies, skippers, and beetles

Indian hemp is an aggressive native perennial to Canada and most of the USA. Yet, it is way less aggressive than the Dog-strangling vine (DSV), which is invading Eastern Canada at a high speed. If you do not wish the DSV to take up your land, Indian hemp is a good choice.

Besides its low-maintenance nature, it is a pollinator magnet. The beloved hummingbird clear-wing moth is one of the insects that Indian hemp is attractive to. Moreover, this hemp can be harvested for cordage.

Hundredfold Note: The Safety Net for Birds
