Bloomsdale Spinach was an heirloom developed by David Landreth in the 1800s. It is a standard crinkled leaf spinach. It performs in spring and fall and is suited for winter greenhouse. However, it does not stand heat well. Although recent hybrids outperform this old heirloom in production and bolt resistance, gardeners and chefs are still clinging to this reliable open-pollinated variety.
