Product description

Common milkweed is Nature’s gift for beneficial insects. Over 450 insects are known to feed on different portions of the plant. In the Northeast and Midwest of North America, it is one of the most important food plants for monarch caterpillars. After those caterpillars transform into butterflies by feasting on the leaves, they return to the same kind of plant for nectar. Be aware that common milkweed could become weedy and hard to remove. Care should be taken to establish the plant only in places where spread can be tolerated. They are food for insects only, not for humans. The sap of common milkweed is toxic to human and farm animals. Common milkweed seeds are notoriously difficult o germinate outside of their natural habitats. It is fortunate if the germination rate is over 40%. Please contact us for a replacement or refund if there is a germination problem.
